On behalf of myself, James Martell, and my wife Arlene, we would thank you for considering to bid on our writing projects. Since 1999, we have made our living publishing specialty shopping sites on a wide variety of topics. As a result, we are always in need of fresh content. Hopefully, we can work together for a long time.
|
We require professional writers to develop short 275-300 word stories ("articles"), typically in batches of 75-100 per topic (I.e. replacement windows), so that we can provide quality, accurate and newsworthy information to our website visitors.
The content for each article will be provided by us in the form of a press release. As the writer, you will be contracted to extrapolate and develop the contents of press release into an original article.
Five Important Points
All articles MUST be completely your own original work. We are NOT looking to have the words and phrases of the press release simply re-arranged. What we are looking for is an original work in the form of a short 275-300 word article that is developed using the information from the press release. In other words, you should read the original press release, make notes, gather the important points, concepts, people's names, referenced websites and relevant keywords, and then write an article from scratch using your own words.
All English writing-related articles MUST use correct grammar and be structured in a logical fashion and written with good English. If you are a non-native English speaker you are HIGHLY CAUTIONED against bidding if you are less than 100% certain that you can provide this level of quality.
In addition, because these articles are being written for the Internet, and we want them to rank at the various search engines, we have supplied keyword density rules below that are to be followed by the writer.
Once completed, the articles will be submitted to us using a simple 3-step online submission form. The form requires that the writer knows some basic HTML. A tutorial is provided for those who may need it on the submission form that takes only a few minutes to learn.
Prior to commencement of work, a Work Order will be provided to the writer that will include an unique Article ID#, link to the corresponding press release, list of the primary, tier-1 and keyword variations, notes and a link to the article submission form as outlined in this sample:

At first glance, these density rules may look complicated, however once understood they are very easy-to-follow. These rules allow you to write naturally because there is NO need to use the exact same phrase over and over.
Primary Keyword – Each article is fully optimized as ‘spider food’ for one Primary Keyword (I.e. cell phone plans) that is used once in the headline, and once in the first paragraph. The exact Primary Keyword should not be used anywhere else on the page.
Tier-1 Keywords – Each article is partially optimized as ‘spider food’ for one other keyword (I.e. cell phone plan) by using the word once in the first or second paragraph. The exact Tier-1 Keyword should not be used anywhere else on the page.
Keyword Variations – In addition to the Primary and Tier-1 Keywords mentioned above, the article will also include the repeated use of the individual words that make up the Primary and Tier-1 Keyword (I.e. cell, phone, plan, plans), and their variations (I.e. cellular, wireless, mobile, phones, telephone) should be used between 24 and 36 words within the article in total.
Helpful Writing Hints To Keep In Mind:
Tier-2 Keywords: Each press release naturally includes a number of other topic-related Tier-2 Keywords. Typically, these are the words that help to make up the article so finding them and using them should happen naturally.
Word Proximity: During the normal course of writing, ONLY if necessary to maintain good grammar, you may add words between the keywords that make up the Primary and Tier-1 Keywords. For example, "cell phone plans" could read "...teens looking for a cell phone, can now choose from plans tailored...".
Word Order: In addition to using the Primary and Tier-1 Keywords as specified above, during the normal course of writing, where possible, when using the variations please change the order of the words that make up the Primary and Tier-1 Keywords. For example, "cell phone plans" could read "...a number of plans feature cell phones that...".

Common Mistakes To Avoid
Please do NOT capitalize the first letter of each word that make up the primary and tier-1 keywords, UNLESS proper grammar dictates (I.e. a brand name).
Headline: The article must include a catchy two-part headline that includes the primary keyword; (I.e. Prepaid Cell Phones – No Contracts, No Hassles!).
The first letter of each of the words needs to be capitalized as outlined in the example above.
The headline needs to begin with the primary keyword, followed by a long – dash and a catchy statement.
The headlines need to be approximately the length shown above.
Sub-headlines: The page should include 1 sub-headline.
The first letter of each of the words needs to be capitalized (I.e. Stay In Control – Pay-As-You-Go!).
Bulleted Text: The writer, at their discretion may use bulleted text, -- providing, it is started after the third paragraph so they do not interfere with our advertising.
Italicized Text: The first occurrence of the Primary keyword within the article (I.e. cell phone plans) should be italicized.
Each Article Requires A Short Description
Article Description: Using the Primary and tier-1 keywords (and/or variations thereof), write a quality and accurate 20-25 word description for each article.

Recent Points Of Clarification
*Please carefully review these recent clarifications prior to writing:
March 14, 2005 - Please do NOT submit the articles to us in one big batch at the end of the project, but rather as they are completed, or in small batches of 5 or 10 articles at a time.
April 7, 2005 - In most cases, in the natural course of writing the story it is appropriate to make reference the website of the company who issued the press release.
April 15, 2005 - Please use ONLY the HTML tags that are listed next to the article submission form when submitting articles to us. All other HTML tags are added by our system automatically.
June 1, 2005 - In most cases, we prefer short sentences to make up the paragraphs because they are easier for our visitors to read.
June 15, 2005 - Please refrain from an over use of filler words, such as "nowadays", "more so" "and etc." and other slang words.
June 20, 2005 - In cases where we find that the articles were obviously not proofread we will be sending the entire batch of articles back to the writer. Please refer to; We Do Check.
