Is My Domain Name Too Long?

I received an email from someone wondering if their domain name; a-to-z-guide-to-home-alarms.com (example only) was too long, and if they should register a shorter one?
Personally, I like domain names that are short enough to fit on a business card and to include a keyword phrase for the search engine optimization benefits.
In the case above, I would register a name such as www.home-alarms-360.com (example only). […]

I Have Been Told That Sites With “Affiliate Ads” Are Rejected By DMOZ - Is This True?

I have found that getting accepted into the *reputable* directories such as Dmoz.com, which automatically puts you into the Google Directory, comes down to the quality and uniqueness of the website, and has little or nothing to do with the “ads”.
Getting accepted into the directories is just another BIG reason why it is so important to take […]

You Can Lock Out Your Competitors And Protect Your Domain Name For $17.85

In 1999, when I was first getting started online, it cost me a whopping $35 US to register one domain name for a year. If that wasn’t expensive enough, I was also forced to register each domain for a minimum of 2-years ($70 US). Ouch!
Needless to say, at those prices, and with my poor financial situation back in […]

I Really Want Affiliate Marketing To Work For Me - Should I Develop One Site Or Many?

It’s a great question, and one that I have answered and struggled with over the years.
Early on, I had only a handful of websites.
Actually just three, and they were on the topic of cell phones, satellite tv and credit cards.
I cut my teeth on these sites. I learned how to use FrontPage, how to FTP, how […]

Food for Thought - And A Quick Question

If one was to focus on the development of one site, and spend each day working to improve and add to the site’s content, over time the site would grow into a great resource.
Plus, because all of the attention is focused on the one site, as it grows in inbound links, new pages of content […]

Coffee Talk with Kellie Fowler of DotComCopy.com

In the Spring of 2006 I was in the middle of updating my Hiring Authors report and decided to give Kellie Fowler, a freelance copywriter I discovered at Elance, a telephone call to see if she was available for a quick interview.
I especially wanted to interview Kellie because I had been working with her for some time through the Elance […]

Affiliate Summit 2007 - Elvis’ Viva Las Vegas

I am a huge Elvis Presley fan. In fact, I recently purchased Elvis, Aloha from Hawaii - Deluxe Edition DVD and forced my kids to watch it. I thought it would be a great history lesson. I am not sure it worked.
Elvis, as many know also spent a lot of time in Las Vegas. He debuted at the […]

Google Adwords - Mickey Mouse

Last night I finished up a Coffee Talk interview with Ed Keay-Smith, a Google Adwords expert from Perth, Australia.
In total, we talked for almost an hour, and Ed shared a wealth of information about Google Adwords.
I met Ed and his wife Lois and his daughter Sasha at Commission Junction University in Santa Barbara, California, who was on a ‘break-ation’ […]
